My favourite career and business books

There was a time long ago where I'd read at least three books a week. These days it usually takes a good month to get through that many but it is something I love and prioritize - even if it's just a chapter a day. I read everything from crime and mystery to romance and chick lit, it's all on my book shelf but my number one genre(s) of choice is biography and business. I link them because most good business books are intrinsically centred around the story of the founder(s) and have more drama that an episode of The Bachelor. If I really was to narrow down my books of choice even further it would be business books by women. These are the ones I devour and stay up way too late for someone whose one year will be up no later than 6am demanding sustenance and attention. I've put together a list of some of the best and would love to hear your recommendations on any I've missed. #GIRLCODE: The Secret to Success in a digital world Michaela Launerts This one reads like...

How to save money while shopping online

With Christmas just around the corner I’ve put together a list of tips I’ll be following to make the most of my spending over the festive season. This isn’t about cutting back but more about getting more value for your money! Cash-back Programs ShopBack and similar companies offer discounts just for accessing the store via their website. My trick is not to go looking just because there is a good deal - if I want to p urchase something I find online I will then go to the website to see if they are an affiliated store. Discount Codes Many influencers have discount codes, especially for small businesses. Plus, adds-on like Honey will perform a search for you to find recently used codes. Shipping can be a killer so look for codes for this and consider if click and collect is worth your time. Store Rewards Programs Keep tabs on store rewards programs especially around your birthday. Recently I brought a watch that was originally $199 for $13.95. It went on sale for $99, I had $95 rewar...

Updated Hospital Bag List

When I packed my hospital bag while pregnant with Daisy, in my usual style, I 100% overpacked. But, in saying that I won’t be changing too much this time around because most items came in handy and I had plenty of room to store my bags. Click here to see my post from last time.  The main changes will be in how I pack. Last time I used my Mimco baby bag for bub and a Country Road overnight bag for me. These worked ok but I found we were going from bag to bag quite a lot and hubby was always digging around looking for things. This time I’ve brought a medium sized suitcase, some packing cubes and a bigger toiletry bag all from Kmart and I’ve bundled items together more strategically - delivery, hospital stay items for mum and baby’s stuff. My full packing list is below and check out my hospital bag highlight on Instagram for more details. Post Birth for Mum  1 x packing cube  This one is for when we are still in the birthing suite and I can take just this cube an...
